France is a Contracting State to the ICSID Convention:

  • Signature: 22 December 1965
  • Deposit of Ratification: 21 August 1967
  • Entry into Force: 20 September 1967
  • Pursuant to Article 54(2) of the ICSID Convention, France has designated “Tribunal de Grande Instance” having jurisdiction where the enforcement is to take place” as competent for the recognition and enforcement of ICSID awards.
  • Pursuant to Article 69 of the ICSID Convention, France enacted Loi No. 67-551 du 8 juillet 1967 autorisant la ratification de la Convention pour le règlement des différends relatifs aux investissements entre Etats et ressortissants d’autres Etats, du 18 mars 1965 (Off. Gaz. July 11, 1967, p. 6931) to make the Convention effective in their jurisdiction.
  • Pursuant to Article 13(1) of the ICSID Convention France has made the following panel designations effective until 7 February 2013:

    - Mr. Pierre RAOUL-DUVAL: Avocat
    - Prof. Pierre MAYER: Professor of Law, University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne

    - Prof. Emmanuel GAILLARD: Professor of Law, University of Paris XII
    - Judge Gilbert GUILLAUME: Conseiller d’Etat; Former Member, International Court of Justice
    - Mr. Dominique HASCHER: Chargé des relations internationals, Cour de Cassation
    - Prof. Brigitte STERN: Professor of Law, University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne
