Mauritius Arbitration

Mauritius is a Contracting State to the ICSID Convention:

  • Signature: 2 June 1969
  • Deposit of Ratification: 2 June 1969
  • Entry into Force: 2 July 1969
  • Pursuant to Article 54(2) of the ICSID Convention, Mauritius has designated “Supreme Court” as competent for the recognition and enforcement of ICSID awards.
  • Pursuant to Article 69 of the ICSID Convention, Mauritius enacted the Investment Disputes (Enforcement of Awards) Act, 1969 (Act No. 12 of April 24, 1969); Proclamation to fix the date of the coming into force of the Investment Disputes (Enforcement of Awards) Act, 1969 (Proclamation No. 6, June 25, 1969) to make the Convention effective in their jurisdiction.
  • Pursuant to Article 13(1) of the ICSID Convention Mauritius has made the following panel designations effective until 8 September 2015:
    - Mrs. Urmila BOOLELL: Attorney-at-Law
    - Mr. Rajsoomer LALLAH: Attorney-at-Law; Former Chief Justice of the Republic of Mauritius
    - Mr. Salim MOOLLAN: Attorney-at-Law; Senior Visiting Lecturer, King's College, University of London

Mauritius is a Contracting State to the New York Convention:

  • Date of Accession: 19 June 1996
  • Entry into Force: 17 September 1996
  • Mauritius will only apply the New York Convention to the recognition and enforcement of awards made in the territory of another contracting state

Mauritius is a Contracting State to the 1899 Convention for the Pacific Settlement of International Disputes:

  • Entry into Force: 3 August 1970

Mauritius is a not Contracting State to the 1907 Convention for the Pacific Settlement of International Disputes:
